Derek Carr Fantasy Analysis

  • Raiders making switch at OC
The Associated Press reports that the Raiders will not renew the contract of OC Bill Musgrave this offseason, opting instead to promote QBs coach Todd Downing. Oakland jumped from 24th in yards and 17th in scoring to 6th and 7th, respectively, in Musgrave's 2nd year as OC. Downing spent the past 2 years as QBs coach, marking the 3rd team he has served in that role. He has never served as an OC on the college or pro level, though. We'll await word on his plans for the Raiders offense, as well as any significant moves the team plans for this offseason. The most interesting situation for fantasy owners will be the backfield, with Latavius Murray on the verge of free agency and DeAndre Washington's role growing at the end of the year. Full Story

  • Carr out 6-8 weeks
Raiders QB Derek Carr is expected to be sidelined 6-8 weeks after he undergoes surgery to repair his fractured fibula on Tuesday, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Super Bowl is exactly 6 weeks from yesterday, so Carr would have a slim shot of being ready for that. Of course, he'd need QB Matt McGloin to get the Raiders there. More than likely, we won't see Carr in a meaningful game again until the 2017 opener. Full Story

  • Carr breaks leg
Raiders QB Derek Carr suffered a fractured right fibula in the 4th quarter of Saturday's win over the Colts. HC Jack Del Rio said after the game that he'll have surgery Sunday and is out indefinitely. The team has officially ruled him out for Week 17. We'll see beyond that. Oakland has locked up a 1st-round bye in the playoffs, at least. Matt McGloin is the backup and figures to start against Denver in Week 17. Full Story
