Playoff Week 15 Where to Put em

fantasy football rankings
Where to Put 'em is the Fantasy Football Nerd's look at the best and worst matchups for Week 15. This week is particularly important as it's the playoffs in virtually all leagues. Decisions are based upon the FFN rankings and matchup analysis. Given the known conditions, these matchups are the ones to watch and/or avoid.

Put 'em In The Game: Kurt Warner
The last time Warner had a disaster of a game like he did on Monday night, he went off for 12 TDs, 0 INTs over the next 4 games. History should repeat itself when he faces the worst defense in the league. Look for Fitzgerald and Boldin to have big games as well.
Put 'em In The Game: Donovan McNabb
Coming into the Week 15 FFN rankings at #8 is Donovan McNabb who faces a 49ers defense that ranks 27th against the pass and allows an average of 259 yards/game. His receiving corp is healthy and McNabb has a chance to put up numbers this week.
Put 'em In The Game: Jamaal Charles
One of my favorite waiver wire gems this year, Jamaal Charles has been simply outstanding on what would otherwise be a mediocre offense. He comes into this week's rankings at #6 and has played well since Week 10. He's become a must start in all formats and faces a Browns defense that has allowed backs to run all over them. Just in time for the playoffs!
Put 'em In The Game: Knowshon Moreno
Ranked #8 among RB's this week is Knowshon Moreno who faces the 30th ranked rush defense in the Raiders. Buckhalter should see a smaller role this week while he recovers from an injured ankle so Moreno should have plenty of opportunity to break out. Can anyone say "Rookie of the Year"?
Put 'em In The Game: Calvin Johnson
Calvin Johnson is normally a must start, but he hasn't had that kind of year. It's been difficult to predict Megatron's games. What should have been a monster game against Seattle turned into a 27 yard game. He shredded Cincy's D for 123 yards and a score. Go figure. Arizona's pass defense is 28th in the league and Detroit has no other offensive weapons. Johnson is it and they'll find a way to get it to him even if they have to force it.
Put 'em In The Game: Miles Austin
If you don't have Austin in your must-start list, what are you waiting for? He comes into this week's rankings at #8 facing the Saints who have the 23rd ranked pass defense. The Dallas running game has seen better days so expect a shootout between Romo and Brees. Austin has become one of the league's best wideouts and that should continue Saturday night.
Put 'em In The Game: Kellen Winslow
Kellen Winslow's production chart looks like the recent stock market, but I like his chances this week against a Seahawks secondary that ranks 29th in the league against the pass. As long as Josh Freeman plays smart (STOP THROWING THE PICKS), Winslow should have a good game.
Put 'em In The Game: Fred Davis
Fred Davis has made his way into the FFN Top 10 and with good reason. He has 4 scores in his last 3 games including 2 last week. He faces a Giants D that has been very generous to TEs this year.
Put 'em On The Bench: Ben Roethlisberger
Big Ben faces the Big D in Green Bay. You didn't draft him to sit the bench, but I hope you've got a better option this week. The Pittsburgh offensive line allowed Cleveland to sack Ben 8 times (yes - that's 8 times). That line will have it's work cut out for it against a faster, stronger Packer defensive front who will put pressure on him all day long.
Put 'em On The Bench: Jay Cutler
I should hard code Jay Cutler into this list. The Ravens have a tough secondary that ranks 11th in the league in yards allowed through the air. Cutler comes into the FFN Week 15 rankings at #26. Brady Quinn and Chad Henne are two spots ahead of him. What does that tell you?
Put 'em On The Bench: Matt Forte
Move over Jay Cutler and make room on the bench for Matt Forte. You can leave Forte on there as his fantasy season is done. The Ravens are not going to allow him to run all over them. Forte gets my vote for Bust of the Year.
Put 'em On The Bench: Ryan Grant
Grant has shown flashes of brilliance over the past few weeks as Green Bay has really focused on the run. Unfortunately he's going to run smack into the #1 rush defense in the NFL. The Steelers will be gunning for Grant and he should have a tough day.
Put 'em On The Bench: Santonio Holmes
Santonio Holmes - meet Charles Woodson. Woodson shut down Megatron and virtually every other big name WR that he's faced. If Woodson gets moved to Hines Ward, Holmes may get some breathing room with Tramon Williams, but not much. All of this depends on the O-line giving Big Ben enough time to throw. Too many if's in a playoff week.
Put 'em On The Bench: Steve Smith
I hate to do this, but Steve Smith should probably ride the pine this week. Even though he's a stud and it's a cardinal rule to never sit a stud, Smith will be covered all day long by Antoine Winfield. Smith has an average of 2 receptions for 55 yards over the past three games. I like Smith better with Matt Moore than Jake Delhomme this year, but not by much. In the interest of full disclosure - I'll be starting Steve Smith but only because I don't have a better option. :-)
Put 'em On The Bench: Zach Miller
Denver has the 2nd best pass defense and has basically shut down opposing TE's all season long. Zach Miller has a tough day ahead of him and the QB situation in Oakland isn't helping him at all.
Put 'em On The Bench: Greg Olsen
The starting QB and RB for the Bears are already on the naughty list, so why not put the TE on there too? The Ravens have been tough on tight ends all year and that should continue this week - even for a TE like Olsen.
Put 'em On The Bench: JaMarcus Russell
The evil nerd in me misses seeing JaMarcus Russell on the Sit 'em list, so one more time for old time's sake. Cue the evil laugh. Charlie Frye is starting ahead of him. Seriously - he shouldn't even be on your team so imagine my surprise when I see that he's still on 20% of the teams on FleaFlicker. Cut him already.
