Knowshon Moreno signed a 5-year, $23 million contract yesterday effectively ending his camp holdout. The Broncos have the day off today, but Moreno is expected to be on the field practicing on Sunday.
The team is apparently excited to finally have Knowshon activated. Broncos fans are also getting excited to see what he can do, particularly after Kyle Orton's horrible performance during last week's scrimmage.
Fantasy owners should be cautious with Moreno however. The Nerd ranks him at #25 among running backs, most likely based upon his last 2 years in college and his tremendous NFL potential. He's the highest rated RB in the Denver backfield, however he'll be competing with Correll Buckhalter, LaMont Jordan, Peyton Hillis, and Ryan Torain. Torain was "everyone's sleeper pick" last year and we all know how that worked out. For the risk-adverse, you still have to draft him if he falls to you, but don't reach for him.
The Broncos need some strength and points out of their backfield. Jay Cutler made a splash with his departure to Chicago and Brandon Marshall has a suspect injury (again).
Moreno is guaranteed to receive $13 million.
