Today was a good day for Michael Vick. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced that Vick will be eligible to play beginning Week 3. Goodell's decision was well received by Vick, head coach Andy Reid, and Vick's mentor Tony Dungy.
When asked why the third week was more appropriate than Week 1, he answered that he didn't want to overwhelm Vick. The initial expectation upon Vick's reinstatement was that he might be able to play by Week 6. Week 3 seems like a pretty good compromise that satisfies both parties.
From a fantasy standpoint, Vick still should not be considered. If McNabb gets hurt, check the waiver wire.
Vick and the Eagles play their final preseason game this evening against the New York Jets at 7:00 PM on the NFL Network.
