Matt Forte Fantasy Analysis

  • Forte takes part in team drills
Jets RB Matt Forte (hamstring) took part in team drills Wednesday for the 1st time in training camp. "He looks fine," insider Ralph Vacchiano observed. Forte seems to be making slow but steady progress back from his hamstring injury. He still has 3-and-a-half weeks before the start of the regular season. He's not expected to play in New York's 2nd preseason game, but we'd like to see him get out there for the 3rd. Full Story

  • Forte: I'll "definitely" be ready for Week 1
Jets RB Matt Forte told reporters on Tuesday that he'll "definitely" be ready for Week 1, according to insider Manish Mehta. Forte added that the team is being "super, super cautious" and that he's hoping to get on the field for the 3rd preseason game. We'll see. Forte has missed almost all of training camp with that hamstring issue, although he did participate in some individual drills on Tuesday. "Individuals don't impress me," HC Todd Bowles said of Forte's work. "If you're practicing, you're practicing. If you're not, you're not. Whether it's individuals, inside, outside, I just wait for guys to practice." Forte is a risk/reward pick at his current early-5th-round ADP. Full Story

  • Forte "day-by-day or week-by-week"
Jets HC Todd Bowles described RB Matt Forte (hamstring) as "day-by-day or week-by-week," adding that he's "not sure" if Forte will practice this week. The 30-year-old injured his hammy before training camp started and has barely been on the field. It's starting to become a concern, especially since Forte has a new offense to learn and a young guy in Bilal Powell nipping at his heels. We've already moved Forte down the RB rankings once and will move him down further if he doesn't get back on the practice field within the next week or so. Full Story

  • Jets activate Robinson
The Jets have activated RB Khiry Robinson off the PUP list. He missed the 1st 9 workouts while completing the rehab from the leg fracture that ended his 2015 season. Robinson will now compete for the #3 job in the New York backfield, which could include goal-line work. Neither Matt Forte nor Bilal Powell has proved himself in that area yet, with Forte perennially removed near the end zone. Full Story

  • Forte to miss preseason opener
Jets HC Todd Bowles announced Thursday that RB Matt Forte will miss next Thursday's preseason opener, according to NJ.com. That's no big surprise given the time Forte has missed so far with hamstring trouble. It's also not necessarily a big deal. Forte's heading into his 9th NFL season and probably doesn't need exhibition action to get ready. That said, some game-time prep would likely help as he learns a new offense and teammates. Plus, less Forte in the preseason means more available time for Bilal Powell. We'll see where this goes. Full Story
