Bryce Brown Fantasy Analysis

  • McCoy might not be "fully ready" for opener
The Bills are concerned that RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) might not be "fully ready" for Week 1, according to ESPN's Josina Anderson.  That's not a major surprise considering the hamstring injury seemed relatively severe from the start.  "It's way too early to say whether (McCoy) will play or not," a Bills source told Anderson.  "He is doing a little bit more every day. But hell yes, I'm concerned about that. I can't say for sure he's going to be with us Week 1. I can't say that at all. It will take everything we got just to get him ready for game day, and then we get to game day (there's) no way he can be in great football shape. So I think he will be on a pitch count, I think at the very best."  We'll keep a close eye on Shady in the week leading up to next Sunday's opener against the Colts.  If he doesn't put in at least 1 full practice, though, he'll be a risky fantasy play.  The depth chart behind McCoy is murky, with Karlos Williams, Boobie Dixon and Bryce Brown in the mix. • Bills release Fred Jax
The Bills have released RB Fred Jackson.  The 34-year-old missed most of training camp with a hamstring injury but returned for this past weekend's preseason game and busted off 48 yards and a score on 5 carries.  He looked ready to serve as Buffalo's #2 RB.  But the Bills are moving on and saving over $2 million.  It leaves them with Karlos Williams, Bryce Brown and Boobie Dixon behind LeSean McCoy.  Williams was having a strong camp before being hospitalized with a still-undisclosed issue.  The latest report had the rookie expected to be ready for Week 1.  He's the best bet to emerge as McCoy's handcuff but is only worth rostering in deep fantasy leagues. • Williams climbing the depth chart
Bills rookie RB Karlos Williams got some work with the 1st-team offense on Tuesday. RBs Fred Jackson (hamstring) and Boobie Dixon (calf) are both sidelined, but it looks like Williams has already passed RB Bryce Brown on the depth chart.  "The coaches love him and what he's done so far," insider Joe Buscaglia writes of Williams.  The 5th-rounder converted from DB to RB for his final 2 seasons and goes 6'1, 230 pounds with 4.4 speed.  There's plenty of upside here.  Williams obviously won't challenge RB LeSean McCoy for the starting spot, but it's possible that he makes a run at the backup job.  That'd make him a fantasy option if McCoy goes down.
