Ladarius Green Fantasy Analysis

  • Green says it's the ankle
Steelers TE Ladarius Green disputed reports Saturday that he's been on the PUP list because of concussion-related headaches. "I don't know what reports those are," Green told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "I'm still on PUP because of my ankle." In addition to multiple media reports, Green's own agent had pointed to headaches. But Green said his agent hadn't spoken to him about those comments. This is relatively good news, given that it makes Green's health issue a bit more concrete. If he's really still just rehabbing the ankle that drew January surgery, then we should be able to gauge his return a bit more easily than in the case of headaches. Of course, whatever the primary issue, we still have yet to see Green on the field with the Steelers. That makes him hard to like in fantasy football drafts right now. Full Story

  • Tomlin insists it's Green's ankle
Steelers HC Mike Tomlin refused after the game Friday night to respond to reports of headaches bothering TE Ladarius Green, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He would say only that Green "is on PUP because of his ankle." The Post-Gazette, meanwhile, reports that Green's in the league concussion protocol. Frankly, we don't believe Tomlin's words from Friday night. The combo of the ankle and the reported post-concussion issues combine to make Green barely draftable in fantasy football leagues right now. Full Story

  • Release or retirement a possibility for Green
Adding on to NFL.com's Aditi Kinkhabwala's report, Pro Football Talk hears that "retirement remains an option" for Steelers TE Ladarius Green if his presumably concussion-related headaches don't subside. PFT also hears that Pittsburgh could eventually cut Green and try to recoup his $4.75 million signing bonus. This situation has escalated quickly. Green has gone from an intriguing low-end TE1 with upside to little more than a late-round flier. Sans Green, Jesse James would likely step in as the Steelers' top TE. We'll continue to keep a close eye on this one. Full Story

  • Green sidelined with headaches, not ankle
NFL.com's Aditi Kinkhabwala reports that Steelers TE Ladarius Green has yet to participate in training camp because of "recurring headaches," rather than his surgically repaired ankle. The team has been mum on Green's status, and this explains why. Green has suffered 3 concussions over the last 2 years -- 1 in 2014 and 2 in 2015. He's reportedly been running sprints off to the side of practice recently. "His ankle is fine," Green's agent said. The head issue is an even bigger concern, though. There's still a lofty ceiling here, but it's tough to draft Green as a fantasy starter at this point. Full Story

  • Steelers "hope" Green is ready for season
Steelers GM Kevin Colbert would only say, "I would hope so" when asked whether TE Ladarius Green (ankle) will be ready for the start of the season. "He's progressing, but we really thought it would be touch and go up to this point, early in camp," Colbert added. "The surgery was not a routine clean-up, so we knew it'd be a significant amount of time. We'd love to see him out here, but we're not in any hurry." Even if Green is ready for Week 1, he'll be a risky fantasy play after missing almost the entire offseason with his new team. Full Story
