Doug Martin Fantasy Analysis

  • Sims expected to be activated this week
Bucs HC Dirk Koetter expects RB Charles Sims (knee) to be activated from IR this week. He's been out since Week 4. It's still unclear whether Sims will be ready to play against the Saints on Sunday. His return will put a dent in RB Doug Martin's workload. In their only full game together this season, Martin tallied 23 touches to Sims' 7. Full Story

  • Martin sits late, says he'll be fine
Buccaneers RB Doug Martin watched his team's final 2 drives in Sunday's win over the Chargers after getting "bent back," he told Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times after the game. Martin said he expects to be fine going forward. We'll keep an eye on his status as the Bucs get into Week 14 practices. Jacquizz Rodgers stepped in for his 1st action since Week 8 and is worth a look in your waiver run this week -- just in case -- if you own Martin. The Bucs host New Orleans next Sunday. Full Story

  • Martin expected to play
ESPN Bucs writer Jenna Laine reports that the Buccaneers expect RB Doug Martin (hamstring) to return for today's game against the Bears but that they "still want to test him" before the game. That means we'll need to watch his game status later this morning. It's also a reminder of the risk that will remain in Martin's 1st game back from an injury that has kept him out since Week 2. As of Friday, the medical staff hadn't even cleared Martin to return. He'll be usable if active, but use some caution as you set your lineups. Peyton Barber would only be a fringe fantasy option for deeper leagues if Martin returns.UPDATE: NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the Bucs are expected to limit Martin's workload, which comes as no surprise. • Martin will play Week 10
The Tampa Bay Times' Greg Auman reports that Bucs RB Doug Martin (hamstring) will play against the Bears on Sunday. Auman makes no mention of a snap or touch count. Martin has been out since Week 2, though, so it's certainly possible that he's limited. Consider him just a RB2 for Week 10, but he could quickly regain RB1 status. Full Story

  • Martin a game-time decision for Week 10
Bucs RB Doug Martin (hamstring) will be a game-time decision for this weekend's tilt with the Bears, HC Dirk Koetter said Friday. Martin put in 3 limited practices this week. We'll find out his official status by noon ET on Sunday. If active, he'll be a risk/reward RB2 vs. a surprisingly stout Chicago run defense. If Martin sits, Peyton Barber will draw the start and be a low-end RB2. RB Jacquizz Rodgers (foot) remains out. Full Story
