Matt McGloin Fantasy Analysis

  • Cook expected to start Wild Card game
Raiders QB Connor Cook is expected to start Saturday's Wild Card game against the Texans, according to both NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and the San Francisco Chronicle's Vic Tafur. Cook, the 4th-round rookie, will become the 1st QB in the Super Bowl era to make his 1st career start in a playoff game. He stepped in for the injured Matt McGloin in Denver last weekend, completing 14 of 21 passes for 150 yards, 1 TD and 1 INTs. Tafur hears, though, that the decision to start Cook is "based more on production and potential than health." He was bandied about as a potential 1st-round pick early in the pre-draft process before dropping due mostly to character concerns. Still, making your 1st career start in a road playoff game against a tough pass defense is a tall task. Full Story

  • McGloin might miss Wild Card game
The Raiders are "not optimistic" about QB Matt McGloin's availability for next weekend's Wild Card game in Houston, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. McGloin is dealing with an injury is to his trapezius, which is "acting like a pinched nerve," per Rapoport. If he can't go vs. the Texans, Oakland will be left with 4th-round rookie QB Connor Cook. He completed 14 of 21 passes for 150 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT in relief of McGloin in Denver. Cook might not be a significant downgrade from McGloin, but it'd be a massive challenge if his 1st career start comes in a road playoff game. Full Story
