Terrance West Fantasy Analysis

  • Ravens can OC Trestman
The Ravens have fired OC Marc Trestman. It feels like a panic move after the offense laid an egg in Sunday's home loss to the Redskins. Granted, Trestman abandoned an effective running game. But he's a proven offensive mind that's produced lots of fantasy goodness. Trestman will be replaced by Marty Mornhinweg, who has leaned toward the pass throughout his career. His offenses have ranked higher in pass attempts than rush attempts in 11 of his 15 seasons as a HC or OC. Full Story

  • Ravens division of carries "kind of unpredictable"
Ravens HC John Harbaugh said how his team will divvy carries this week is "kind of unpredictable." RBs Terrance West, Kenneth Dixon and Buck Allen are all expected to be active for Sunday's game against the Redskins. "I expect to get all the guys as many carries as we can," Harbaugh added. It sounds like a hot-hand situation. West figures to get the 1st crack coming off last week's strong showing. And, for what it's worth, ESPN's Jamison Hensley believes Baltimore will "likely bring along Dixon slowly and increase his carries in the coming weeks." Allen isn't much of a factor on early downs. West is the only Ravens RB who should be in fantasy lineups this week. Consider him a risk/reward RB2 with an uncertain workload in a plus matchup. Full Story

  • Forsett released by Ravens
The Ravens have released RB Justin Forsett, according to the Baltimore Sun's Jeff Zrebiec. Forsett, turning 31 in a couple of weeks, is simply out of gas. He averaged 3.2 yards per carry and 3.3 yards per catch in the season's first 3 games before being a healthy scratch last week. Baltimore will move forward with Terrance West, Buck Allen and rookie Kenneth Dixon, who's expected to debut this Sunday. Full Story

  • Ravens not committing to West
ESPN's Jamison Hensley notes that Ravens HC John Harbaugh declined to commit to Terrance West as the team's feature back during Monday's press conference. "If you're playing hard, smart and is fundamentally sound and is productive, you'll be out there again," Harbaugh said. That's music to the ears of Kenneth Dixon owners. The rookie is expected to debut this week and clearly still has an opportunity to carve out a significant role -- and maybe even the starting job. Both Dixon and West should be owned in most fantasy leagues. Full Story

  • Ravens benching Forsett
Ian Rapoport reports that the Ravens will "bench" RB Justin Forsett against the Raiders in Week 4 and start RB Terrance West instead. We're not sure yet whether that means Forsett will be a healthy scratch or even remain active but not play. The 2 have split the backfield pretty evenly to date, and neither has been very effective. But this at least clears things up a bit if you're deciding between Ravens RBs for your Week 4 lineup. Barring some significant improvement in West's efficiency, however, this is a situation awaiting RB Kenneth Dixon. Full Story
