Ben Roethlisberger Fantasy Analysis

  • Roethlsiberger expected to miss 4-6 weeks
Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) is now expected to miss 4-6 weeks, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen. Ouch. What was originally expected to be a 2-3 week absence was reportedly lengthened by an issue related to a bone bruise suffered last year. "But there's no way to put an exact timetable on it," Roethlisberger told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Ron Cook. "It depends on my pain and how I feel." Big Ben has a history of returning earlier than expected from injuries and will still benefit from the Week 8 bye. But fantasy owners should be prepared to be without him through at least Week 10. His absence is also a blow to WR Antonio Brown, RB Le'Veon Bell and the rest of Pittsburgh's skill-position guys. Full Story

  • Roethlisberger out for Week 7
Steelers HC Mike Tomlin confirmed on Tuesday that QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) is out for Sunday's game against the Patriots. He had the damaged meniscus trimmed on Monday. Pittsburgh has a well-timed Week 8 bye, and there's a chance Big Ben is ready by Week 9. QB Landry Jones gets the start this Sunday and is a massive downgrade. WR Antonio Brown and RB Le'Veon Bell should remain in fantasy lineups, but the rest of the Steelers' skill-position guys should be benched. Full Story

  • Roethlisberger has torn meniscus
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Ron Cook reports that Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger has been diagnosed with a torn meniscus. He'll undergo surgery on Monday morning. There's no concrete timetable for his return, but Cook confirms that Big Ben won't play against the Patriots next weekend. Pittsburgh has a Week 8 bye, and "it's possible" Roethlisberger is back by Week 9, per Cook. Dr. David Chao, a former NFL head team physician, expects him to miss 1-3 weeks. QB Landry Jones will start for as long as Roethlisberger is out and obviously represents a huge downgrade. Jones completed just 58.2% of his passes with 3 TDs vs. 4 INTs last year. Full Story

  • Roethlisberger will have MRI on knee
Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger injured his left knee in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's game against the Dolphins. He missed the rest of that frame, returned for the 2nd half but was obviously bothered. Big Ben said afterwards that he "felt something funny" in the knee and that he's scheduled for an MRI. "We'll know more tonight," he said. "Just pray it's not something serious." We'll continue to keep a close eye on the situation. Pittsburgh hosts New England next week. Full Story
