Arian Foster Fantasy Analysis

  • Drake out with hamstring injury
Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake hasn't practiced since suffering a hamstring injury on Friday, August 5. It's nothing new for the rookie, who struggled to stay healthy at Alabama. Even with Arian Foster and Jay Ajayi facing their own durability issues, Drake isn't a recommended late-round pick. Full Story

  • Dolphins focusing on short passing game
The Dolphins have been leaning on short passes in training camp. "Screens, dump-offs or short to intermediate routes," the Miami Herald's Barry Jackson writes. HC Adam Gase says that's by design. "More teams than not, it's 10 yards and under. That's where all the passing game is. The d-ends are too good. If you want to stand back there and have your quarterbacks get your brains beat out, go at it." Gase has done well adjusting his scheme to his players' strengths, and this looks like more of the same. Miami's pass protection is questionable, and QB Ryan Tannehill struggles with the deep ball. More short passing figures to be good news for WR Jarvis Landry and the RBs and bad for WR DeVante Parker. Full Story

  • Ajayi listed as starter
Jay Ajayi is listed as the starting RB on the Dolphins' initial depth chart. RB Arian Foster is with the 2nd team. We don't read too much into these early-August depth charts, but the takeaway here is that Miami's lead RB job is still up for grabs. Preseason performance might be the deciding factor. Ajayi represents the better value right now at his 9th-round ADP. Foster's price tag has climbed into the 6th round. Full Story

  • Ajayi back at practice
Dolphins RB Jay Ajayi returned to practice on Friday, according to the Miami Herald's Armando Salguero. Ajayi ended up missing 3 days with the bruised knee. That specific injury isn't a concern, but he needs to stay on the field after struggling with durability as a rookie. RB Arian Foster has reportedly been impressive to open camp, so Ajayi has a battle on his hands for playing time. Full Story

  • Foster "the guy" in Dolphins backfield?
The Dolphins believe Arian Foster can be "the guy" in their backfield, according to the Miami Herald. The Fins coaching staff has said all offseason that they're looking for a 3-down back, rather than a backfield committee. Foster has evidently looked good enough so far that there's a chance he's that 3-down back. "His ability to feel holes in the run game and when he gets the ball in the passing game, how smooth he is, how effortlessly he catches the ball, it's an impressive thing for me to see," HC Adam Gase said. "I've been around one other guy in Matt Forte, as far as a guy who can do that much." While Foster has been impressing, RB Jay Ajayi remains sidelined with his bruised knee. We still have questions about Foster's effectiveness and ability to stay on the field, but we just bumped him up the RB rankings. He's still much lower than his skyrocketing ADP, though. Full Story
