Surfing some of my favorite fantasy football sites today and thought I'd share some of the nuggets I found.
If you've been thinking about playing in an IDP league, Gary Davenport at Fantasy Sharks has you covered. Check out his 10 part lesson plan on IDP including basic strategies and undervalued stars. Fantasy Sharks always has great coverage.
My friends over at FFToolbox.com have taken a look at the PPR landscape and have highlighted several players who should see an uptick in receptions this year. Hard to argue the logic on these.
I've wasted hours trying to come up with some of my fantasy football team names. Athlon Sports (in addition to their regular content) has a pretty cool list of 75 funny fantasy football team names. C'mon, you know someone in your league is going to go with Hernandez Hit Men or Mile High Manning.
Injuries have already hit training camps hard. Sporting News has a nice rundown on the injured and their replacements.
I've always enjoyed the knowledge and humor of Matthew Berry. That hasn't changed with his 100 facts you need to know before drafting your fantasy team. It turns out that if you mention Tim Tebow in any column, it instantly increases your SEO and social media appeal. What was that? Tim Tebow?
In several mocks, I have found myself staring at Marcedes Lewis on the draft board when I was ready to finally draft a TE. There's a bit of a drop in talent after the top 5 TE's are taken so I wasn't in any rush to grab one. Mike Clay has an interesting take on Lewis. Note: you'll have to be a fantasy gold member to read the full article.
I absolutely loved reading the fantasy football busts and overvalued players at KFFL.com. This was a great write up and Cory points out a lot of relevant information that could come in handy on draft day. For example, while virtually everyone is ready to draft Doug Martin with their first round pick, keep in mind that four big games made up nearly half his production last season.
My friends over at Fleaflicker have a newly revamped site. Their platform has always been clean and fast - one of my favorites. If you're starting a new league or want to change platforms, give Fleaflicker a shot.
It's nice to see someone like Dave Richard at CBS Sports say something that I've been saying all year: don't rush out to get a QB. In virtually every draft I have participated in (and the dozen or so more that are already scheduled), I usually end up with Tony Romo, Andrew Luck, or Colin Kaepernick as my starting QB. While others reached for Rodgers, Brady, or Manning, I grabbed another RB or WR. Dave has some great insight into why this strategy is the one that will carry you through this year.
Last, but certainly not least, be sure to check out Draft Calc's new website. Smitty is one of those industry guys who has hit the nail on the head so many times. Great insight and it looks like he has quite a few new tools on the site this year.
