With the 2017 season upon us, more than 1,000 players were cut this weekend as teams slimmed their rosters down to 53 players. Here are the cuts, trades, and roster moves that you need to know about.
Cleveland let Brock Osweiler go. In essence, they're paying him $16 million to NOT play for them. That seems to suit John Elway just fine as he signed the Brocketship to a one-year deal.
We have confirmed that Andrew Luck will not play this week even though he was activated off the PUP list. The Colts aquired QB Jacoby Brissett from the Patriots to give them some additional depth. We expect Scott Tolzien to be under center for the foreseeable future.
Matt Jones was let go by the Redskins on Saturday. It wouldn't be surprising to see him get picked up somewhere.
Jeremy Kerley was released by the 49ers. This was surprising given that San Francisco gave him $2.8 million guaranteed just six months ago. Rookie Trent Taylor seems to have the slot receiver spot locked up.
It looks like there won't be any salsa dancing in the Windy City as the Bears let WR Victor Cruz go this weekend.
The Bears also waived kicker Roberto Aguayo.
Broncos Pro Bowl safety T.J. Ward was waived on Saturday, but is expected to sign with Tampa Bay. Even though Ward had been dealing with some hamstring issues, he is an upgrade for the Bucs secondary.
Joe Flacco returned to practice this week after missing more time than expected. There's even more good news for fantasy owners with players in Baltimore. Breshard Perriman and Danny Woodhead all returned to practice.
The Jets have acquired WR Jermaine Kerse from Seattle. Don't be surprised to see Kerse challenge Robby Anderson for the top of the depth chart.
The Seahawks acquired defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson from the Jets which will bolster their top-ranked fantasy defense.
The Steelers have traded WR Sammie Coates to the Browns.
Given that Spencer Ware is out for the year and they only have two running backs, we didn't expect the Chiefs to cut CJ Spiller. But cut him they did - only to bring him back the next day.
