Spencer Ware Fantasy Analysis

  • Ware has torn PCL and LCL
Chiefs RB Spencer Ware has been diagnosed with a torn PCL and LCL, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. He'll undergo surgery and is done for the season. Multi-ligament injuries are extremely tough and lengthy rehabs. We'll track Ware's progress, but don't consider him a lock to be ready for the start of the 2018 campaign. Kareem Hunt is entrenched as Kansas City's lead back. Full Story

  • Ware done for the year?
Per Chiefs reporter BJ Kissel, RB Spencer Ware has a torn PCL "in addition to other damage." He'll seek a 2nd opinion, but the most likely outcome is season-ending surgery. We've already bumped Kareem Hunt up the rankings, while we'll see who emerges as the #2 back between Charcandrick West and C.J. Spiller. Update: Terez Paylor of the Kansas City Star reports that Chiefs trainers believe Ware will probably need season-ending surgery for LCL damage in the knee. Full Story

  • Chiefs expect Ware back this season
Chiefs HC Andy Reid said Saturday that he expects RB Spencer Ware (knee) to play again this season. "It's not one of those things that's just clear cut, end of the season," Reid said. "That's not what it is right now. We've got to go through the whole process here in this case." This coincides with the previous report that Ware's ACL is intact. We're still waiting for an official diagnosis and timeline, though. Ware can't be drafted as more than a late-round bench stash at this point. Meanwhile, Reid called rookie Kareem Hunt the "regular featured back" for however long Ware is out. He's worth drafting in RB2 range now. Full Story

  • Ware expected to be out 2-8 weeks
A source tells ESPN's Adam Schefter that Chiefs RB Spencer Ware has a PCL injury and is expected to be sidelined anywhere from 2-8 weeks. That's obviously a wide range. The short end would have Ware pushing to play in the season opener. The long end would have him out through Week 6. We'll keep an eye out for a more concrete timeline. For now, we've projected Ware to miss 3 games. Full Story

  • Ware has "sprained knee"
Chiefs HC Andy Reid said after Friday night's preseason game that RB Spencer Ware is dealing with a "sprained knee." His ACL is believe to be intact, but he'll undergo further testing to check for damage to the meniscus, PCL or MCL. It sounds like Ware escaped without a season-ending injury, but he's probably still looking at a multi-week absence. We'll continue to update his status as we learn more. If you're drafting in the meantime, Ware is no more than a later-round bench stash. RB Kareem Hunt, meanwhile, got a big boost up the RB rankings. Full Story
